Daniel Barden Mudfest 5 Mile, 5k & Kids Mud Run
The Daniel Barden Mudfest is an outdoor mud run and music festival held in Deansboro, New York. The event combines off‑road running with hand‑built obstacles, a variety of race options, and an afterparty area featuring local bands and craft brews. Organizers describe the course as including mud pits, hills, and uniquely designed obstacles, and recent editions added a Highland Games exhibition.
The event was created in memory of a first grade student killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 and aims to carry forward the values that inspired it. Proceeds support youth programs, including the Barden Adventure Scholarship, and have been donated to organizations such as Sandy Hook Promise.
Race offerings at the main venue include a timed five mile run, timed and untimed 5k runs offered in multiple waves, kids fun runs for elementary ages, and on‑site parking managed as a donation option. Age minimums listed for the runs are 13 years for the five mile and 11 years for the 5k events; kids runs are for ages about 5 to 11 years. The event address is 6844 W. Hughes Road, Deansboro, NY 13328. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
