Event overview
The Michigan Spartan event takes place on July 18-19, 2026 at Cannonsburg Ski Area, 6800 Cannonsburg Rd NE, Belmont, MI. The venue is described as easy to access from Chicago, Detroit, and Milwaukee. Course maps are subject to change.
The venue features rugged terrain across more than 11 miles, with steep climbs, challenging descents, rolling hills, bridges, sand pits, and water crossings. The site is identified as the highest vertical ski resort in southwestern Michigan.
Race formats, obstacles, and finish items
- Sprint - 5 km, 20 obstacles, average duration 1 h 32 m 12 s
- Super - 10 km, 25 obstacles
- Kids Race - 1-3 km with obstacles
The event includes many named obstacles such as Atlas Carry, A-Frame Cargo, Barbed Wire Crawl, Fire Jump, Inverted Wall, Bucket Carry, Hercules Hoist, Multi-Rig, Rope Climb, Sandbag Carry, Slip Wall, Spear Throw, and various walls, plus additional location-specific challenges. Sprint participants receive a Sprint finisher medal and a finisher tee. Completing additional race formats in the same year can earn a Trifecta medal.
