Operation TOM THUMB is an endurance event held in Scottsdale, Arizona. The course covers a distance of 10.6 miles and features a significant vertical gain of 3,087 ft. Participants navigate the terrain while carrying weighted packs, with the event focusing on physical grit and perseverance through the elevation changes.
Participation Categories
The event offers three distinct weight categories for participants, referred to as loads. These categories are defined by the "dry weight" of the pack, which does not include the weight of water or food:
- LIGHT: Participants carry a 10 lb load.
- STANDARD: Participants carry a 25 lb load.
- HEAVY: Participants carry a 50 lb load.
