Ruck for the Fallen 2026 (Cancelled)
This event was cancelled. It had been planned as a 10k ruck and obstacle course at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine, with venue address 15 Farm View Dr, New Gloucester ME 04260. The event aimed to honor fallen service members from the local community.
Participants were to carry packs on the trails of Pineland Farms and then complete "The Crucible," a sequence of more than 20 obstacles. The event listed separate categories for adults, youth, and team entries. To be eligible for prizes, participants needed to ruck the full 10k course with a pack, excluding the obstacle course element, and complete The Crucible. Packs were to be weighed before the event and obstacle completion was to be verified by the honor system.
The event was associated with The Summit Project, whose stated mission is to honor post 9/11 fallen service members through education, fellowship, and physical activity. The Summit Project description notes that volunteers and participants learn about a chosen fallen service member, carry a donated tribute stone on a physical challenge, and compose a post event reflection letter addressed to the surviving family.
The event materials included an awards list covering categories such as age group placements, heaviest pack awards, most patriotic recognitions, and a globetrotter award for distance traveled to attend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
