Sterling Down and Dirty 5k
The Sterling Down and Dirty 5k is a family-friendly 5k obstacle race held annually in September at Stratford Short Beach. The route goes through the beach area. Participants can run, walk, skip, or dance along the course, which features 18+ obstacles.
The event is described as suitable for all fitness levels. Participants are expected to get sweaty, sandy, dirty, and wet during the run.
All proceeds from the event benefit the programs and services of the Sterling Community Center, including its Resource Connection Program. Over 300 people, families, and children participate each year, and the event has raised $250,000 toward programs, services, and financial aid.
Participants can register individually or as part of a team. Team categories include General Teams, Sterling Spirit Teams, School Teams, and Corporate Teams. Fundraising milestones during registration unlock "swag" for participants.
Volunteer opportunities are available for race day, such as Obstacle Facilitator or Course Guide. There are also various sponsorship tiers available for businesses, ranging from Platinum to Small Business Slalom. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
