Sterling Down & Dirty 5k
The Sterling Down and Dirty is an annual family-friendly obstacle race held at Stratford Short Beach in Stratford, CT (1 Dorne Dr). The event is a 5k course that includes more than 18 obstacles and runs along the beach. Participants can choose to race or move through the course at a relaxed pace. The course involves sand and water elements, so runners often get sandy, wet, and dirty during the event. The race is organized by the Sterling Community Center and takes place each September.
Fundraising, teams, and participation
All proceeds benefit Sterling Community Center programs and members of the Resource Connection Program. The event reports an impact of $250,000 raised toward programs, services, and financial aid, and typically draws more than 300 people, families, and children each year. Participants can fundraise individually or take part as part of a team. Teams compete in four categories: General Teams, Sterling Spirit Teams, School Teams, and Corporate Teams. The event also offers multiple sponsor levels for organizations that want onsite branding and registrations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
