About the race
Tackle the Tar is a 5K obstacle race held at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex, with a course that winds through Battle Park and the E.B. Grain Company property. Runners tackle 15+ obstacles, including the Great Tar Wall, Mud Pit with Roadkill, Tic-Tac-Toe ropes, Culvert Tunnels, Tire Mountain, Spider Climb, and more, finishing along the Tar River.
The event also features a 1-mile Kids Obstacle Race for ages 8-13. Participants receive a T-shirt, medal, goodie bag, and one free beer (21+); proceeds fund college scholarships in Rocky Mount.
