ZooTown Challenge Obstacle Course Race
The ZooTown Challenge is an obstacle course event held at the Washington-Grizzly Stadium on the University of Montana campus in Missoula. The course utilizes the stadium grounds and the surrounding campus area to provide a variety of skill-based and physical obstacles.
Participants can choose from several distinct race categories based on distance and specific requirements:
- 10 km: Known as the Griz Double, this race involves completing the course twice and features 35 obstacles.
- 5 km: Offered for expert, novice, and team categories, featuring 20 obstacles.
- 3 km: A shorter course focused primarily on obstacles without including the M Trail.
- 2 km: The ZooTown STRONG category, which requires participants to lift 100 lbs and drag 180 lbs.
- Kids Race: A specialized course designed by Mismo Gymnastics for children aged 5-12, located inside the stadium.
- All Abilities: A specially designed course for individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities, where participants may be paired with a buddy.
Team registration is available for four-person groups, with the final result determined by the combined time of all four members. The event infrastructure includes food trucks located at the North End Zone for both participants and spectators. Proceeds from the event are donated to Opportunity Resources Inc., a Missoula-based organization supporting people with disabilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
