Highlander Assault Obstacle Race
The Highlander Assault Obstacle Race is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, in McHenry, Illinois (1911 W. Fernview Ln., 60051). The event uses a Scottish Highlander theme and features multiple obstacle race formats on the same day. The course includes obstacles such as technical monkey bar-style rigs, atlas stone carries, archery challenges, and caber carries.
Events and format
The event day includes a range of obstacle race options with different heat types and price ranges. The 5k obstacle course lists elite, open, and hero heats and is priced from $60 to $80. The 15k obstacle course lists an endurance heat plus open and hero heats and is priced from $75 to $95. A Family Frenzy 3k option is offered at $40. The race organizer also schedules a separate 5k night event called Dark Ages Night Obstacle Race with torch-lit, illuminated obstacles and bonfires and includes a competitive heat. A separate 5k Haunted Highlander Trail Run features live haunted actors, animatronics, and Halloween-themed scenes and does not include a competitive option.
