Tackle the Tar is an annual 5K obstacle course race held at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The course runs through historic Battle Park and the E.B. Grain Company property, featuring over 15 challenging obstacles including a mud pit, climbing walls, tire mountains, rope crawls, and water crossings.
The event also includes a 1-mile kids' obstacle race for ages 8-13. Participants receive a T-shirt, medal, goodie bag, and a free beer for those over 21. The race supports local college scholarships, with proceeds benefiting students in the Rocky Mount area.
